Transit: “I support the current BRT plan as proposed in large part because it solves the bottlenecks we are currently dealing with at high traffic times for cars and buses. The BRT corridors are our busiest transit routes where many buses are currently delayed significantly which reduces consistency and reliability. With BRT cars and buses do not have to interact allowing more free flowing car traffic and a reliable, dependable bus system. By alleviating the strain off these major corridors it also allows for increased route frequency in ward 14 where instead of having to wait 30 minutes for a bus people will only have to wait 10 minutes.” [1]Excerpt from Electipedia.ca survey response.

Social Housing: “With thousands waiting for social housing we need to find every innovative way we can to have more people housed. Inclusionary zoning is certainly one tool we need to continue pushing for and having affordable housing included in new development plans.” [2]Excerpt from Electipedia.ca survey response.

Business Climate: As the city grows and greater interest from business comes the more pressure mounts on our staff to get things done quickly and we as a council need to support them in the efforts to reduce wait times and cut red tape. The smoother the interactions are for businesses in our community the greater the impact will be on our local economy. [3]Excerpt from Electipedia.ca survey response.

Fiscal Responsibility: “We as a municipality offer over 90 services to our community which also costs a great deal of money. Wherever possible in the past I looked for ways to reduce cost spending and did not support multiple measures during the budget process. In addition, where I felt a budget ask was unnecessary or redundant I did not support it. ” [4]Excerpt from Electipedia.ca survey response.

Safe Injection Sites: “Supervised consumption sites can be a very useful tool for our city in dealing with the drug and crime issues we have in our city. It helps reduce needles in our parks, and helps provide a place for people to do something they may otherwise get charged or arrested for which ideally allows our police to deal with more significant issues. Sadly the site is only open during business hours and does not necessarily assist someone using drugs outside these hours.” [5]Excerpt from Electipedia.ca survey response.

Transit

I support the current BRT plan as proposed in large part because it solves the bottlenecks we are currently dealing with at high traffic times for cars and buses. The BRT corridors are our busiest transit routes where many buses are currently delayed significantly which reduces consistency and reliability. With BRT cars and buses do not have to interact allowing more free flowing car traffic and a reliable, dependable bus system. By alleviating the strain off these major corridors it also allows for increased route frequency in ward 14 where instead of having to wait 30 minutes for a bus people will only have to wait 10 minutes.

Environment

Our environment is incredibly important, and as we have seen more and more significant storms we need to be investing in our infrastructure to deal with growing needs and capacity so when the unexpected happens we are overly prepared for it and not having to scramble to pay for costly repairs and cleanups after the fact.

Social Housing

With thousands waiting for social housing we need to find every innovative way we can to have more people housed. Inclusionary zoning is certainly one tool we need to continue pushing for and having affordable housing included in new development plans.

Business Climate

As the city grows and greater interest from business comes the more pressure mounts on our staff to get things done quickly and we as a council need to support them in the efforts to reduce wait times and cut red tape. The smoother the interactions are for businesses in our community the greater the impact will be on our local economy.

Fiscal Responsibility

We as a municipality offer over 90 services to our community which also costs a great deal of money. Wherever possible in the past I looked for ways to reduce cost spending and did not support multiple measures during the budget process. In addition, where I felt a budget ask was unnecessary or redundant I did not support it. One example recently would be the ask for $90,000 to be spent on a free of fear services for all policy which to me was unnecessary as it replicated things already being done and tried to address something which is not an issue.

Law and Order

I am very supportive of our London Police Service but am also mindful that this is one of the most expensive costs we as a city pay which continues to escalate and become a greater and greater percentage of our budget.

Safe Injection Sites

Supervised consumption sites can be a very useful tool for our city in dealing with the drug and crime issues we have in our city. It helps reduce needles in our parks, and helps provide a place for people to do something they may otherwise get charged or arrested for which ideally allows our police to deal with more significant issues. Sadly the site is only open during business hours and does not necessarily assist someone using drugs outside these hours.
